Tori Spelling boards the emotional roller coaster of her life on True Tori. In a new clip from the Lifetime reality series, which premieres tonight, April 22, the mother of four reveals her struggle to reconcile her feelings about husband of seven years Dean McDermott, who admitted he had an affair with 28-year-old Emily Goodhand.
The clip shows an understandably teary Spelling, 40, driving to meet with McDermott for the first time since discovering he’d been unfaithful. “I don’t know what to expect, to be honest,” Tori tells the camera, “I know it’s going to be hard and at the same time I feel really excited to see him and I feel like that’s the wrong thing to say.”
The distraught former 90210 actress goes on to admit: “I feel it makes me sound weak, but it’s been really hard and I miss him. I miss having my best friend. I miss having that support … and that was just stripped from me. I had it for seven years and it was just gone one day.”
Tori revealed to Us Weekly in an exclusive interview it was her idea to film the show as a way for her story to be heard. True Tori will go inside the troubled marriage between Spelling and McDermott, 47, and follow Spelling as she navigates the unknown road ahead.
Back in late December 2013, Us Weekly broke the story of the affair, and Spelling revealed to Us in the April 28 cover story how she first learned of his infidelity.
“I received a call from my publicist … I always get the calls like, ‘Hey, there’s this story. Is there any truth to it?’ The craziest things!” Spelling told Us. “Honestly when I heard it, I really believed it was just another one of those stories.”
One week later, Spelling received another call from her publicist with news the story was going to be released and she confronted Dean. “I asked Dean to talk privately. I asked him if it was true. He was very nervous — I saw it in his face. He said that they had kissed but that was it. I knew in that moment the worst had happened.”
True Tori premieres tonight, April 22, on Lifetime at 10/9c.
