Taking it outside of the bedroom! Actor, TV personality, and former football player Terry Crews sat down with HuffPost Live to discuss the 90-day “sex fast” that he and his wife, Rebecca, completed to keep their 25-year marriage alive.

“Ninety days, no sex. All relationship, all talk, all cuddle,” Crews revealed. “I found at the end of that 90 days, I was more in love, more turned on. I knew who she was. It wasn’t like, ‘Let’s go out because I know I’m going to get some sex later.’ It was more, ‘Let’s go out because I wanna talk to you. I wanna know you.’”

Crews, 47, added, “You cannot love someone and control them at the same time. All attempts to control your significant other are gonna lead in heartbreak because love is freedom. You know, if I kept my wife locked up in the basement, that ain’t love! If I restricted her in any way, it’s not love. But love is when she comes in the door because she wants to. Love is when she says, ‘Hey, let’s go out’ because she wants to be with me and it’s the same thing that I do with her.”

The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star also briefly spoke about his battle with depression. “I’ve been in shape for a long time but there was a time when I wasn’t. To be honest, I got really, really depressed after football was over. I had to learn to acknowledge that I have sad days.”

In 1991, Crews was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL draft. He later went on to play with the San Diego Chargers, the Washington Redskins, and the Philadelphia Eagles before retiring in 1997 to become a full-time actor.

“I was addicted to pornography,” Crews revealed. “When you believe as a man that you are more valuable than your wife and kids, it allows something like pornography to be in your life because you feel like you deserve it. Pornography is using people. You’re treating people like objects. You’re treating people wrong. It’s like you’re not looking at people as human beings, you’re looking at them as objects to be used and that affects the way you talk to people. You think everyone can be used, everyone can be manipulated, everyone can be controlled. Once you get down to love, pornography cannot stay in that. Porn doesn’t exist in the world of love.”

Crews made his hosting debut on World’s Funniest earlier this year. The show compiles hysterical epic fail videos into an even more hilarious program for the whole family — and its upcoming second season is all about the funny man himself.

“What we’ve done is created this whole little world that’s all about me and where I am the king,” Crews explained. “I get to say what’s good and I like that. I don’t get to do that at home!”

The TV personality joked, “I am the star, I am the man. I get to pick the videos, I get to pick which wins. Even if they want another one to win, I say, ‘No, I want this one to win!’”

The producers of World’s Funniest even created a statue of Crews, which he calls the Golden Terry. “I wanted to take one home, but my wife was like, ‘No you’re not putting that in the house. Put it in your office or something!”

As for the funniest video clip Crews has seen so far? “There’s just too many!”

Season 2 of World’s Funniest premieres Friday, Nov. 6 on Fox.
