Stacey Dash Demands an Apology From Her Critics, Still Wants to Do Away With Black History Month

It’s not too late to say that you’re sorry! Stacey Dash wrote in a new blog post on Monday, January 25, that she deserves an apology from her critics, who skewered the Clueless actress last week after she argued that America should do away with Black History Month and the BET network.

In the post titled, “Twitter Haters, When Do I Get My Apology for Agreeing with Morgan Freeman about #BlackHistoryMonth?” Dash claims Freeman’s original thoughts were the foundation for her argument on Fox & Friends.

“When I spoke out on Fox News and on my blog about the need to get rid of BET and Black History Month, all the same usual Twitter haters came out of the woodwork to troll me and say all sorts of disgusting things about me,” Dash, 49, wrote on Monday. “If you’re going to call me ignorant, stupid, and an Uncle Tom, you need to be intellectually honest and also call out Morgan Freeman.”

“What’s that you say?” she continued. “You didn’t realize that Morgan Freeman agrees with me that having a Black History Month is actually racist and a part of the problem in healing race relations in America?”

Dash included a clip of Freeman’s comments about Black History Month on 60 Minutes in June 2006. In it, the actor calls the February celebration “ridiculous” and says, “You’re gonna relegate my history to a month?”

“Damn straight, Morgan Freeman! PREACH IT!” Dash wrote on Monday. “It’s time we decide as a society whether we want to care about race or not. Like Morgan Freeman says, there is no White History Month and there should be no Black History Month. Black history IS American history.… You want racial healing and reconciliation? You want true equality? Listen to Morgan Freeman – Stop. Talking. About. Race.”

Dash became a trending topic on social media last Wednesday, January 20, after her comments on Fox & Friends went viral. During the segment about the Oscars boycott, Dash argued that the solution to ongoing diversity problems is getting rid of channels like BET and doing away with Black History Month. BET subsequently responded with an elaborate slideshow titled, “Every Time Stacey Dash Proved She Was Clueless,” as well as several memes on its Instagram.

Like BET, others took to social media to make fun of Dash for her remarks. Those reactions, Dash said, made her the victim. “Like I said … so when do the Twitter trolls apologize to me?” she concluded in her post. “I’ll wait right here.”
