A campfire in a cookie! Just in time for summer, Oreo unveiled its latest limited-edition flavor, confirming what avid cookie fans have speculated for months: the existence of the S'mores Oreo.
A rep for Oreo confirmed to Us Weekly on Monday, May 18, that the company is bringing the S'mores Oreo to shelves nationwide beginning May 22. The newest limited-edition flavor will feature a chocolate-marshmallow creme filling wedged between two delicious graham cracker cookies, the first-ever to be introduced by Oreo.
The rep adds that fans will be able to enjoy the iconic summertime delight without the "fuss" and "mess” of actual campfire s'mores — but with a very similar taste.
Rumors about S'mores Oreos started this past February, after there was a sighting of one very legitimate-looking package.
Over the last few months, Oreo has unveiled multiple mouthwatering one-off flavors including Cotton Candy-flavored Oreos last month, and Red Velvet Oreos this past February.
As part of the company's exciting announcement, Oreo has teamed up with Zipcar to unveil its latest cookie flavor over Memorial Day Weekend. Those taking Zipcars and headed for their respective destinations for the long weekend might find a surprise package of S'mores Oreos tucked away in the passenger seats of their reserved cards on May 21 and 22.
For everyone else, S'mores Oreos will be available across the country on the 22nd. Each package will retail for $4.49 in the U.S., and $3.59 in Canada.
