Selma Blair is taking responsibility for Monday’s plane outburst. The Cruel Intentions alum, 43, released a statement to Vanity Fair about the incident on Tuesday, June 22.
“I made a big mistake yesterday. After a lovely trip with my son and his dad, I mixed alcohol with medication, and that caused me to black out and led me to say and do things that I deeply regret,” the actress shared. “My son was with his dad asleep with his headphones on, so there is that saving grace. I take this very seriously, and I apologize to all of the passengers and crew that I disturbed and am thankful to all of the people who helped me in the aftermath. I am a flawed human being who makes mistakes and am filled with shame over this incident. I am truly very sorry.”
As previously reported by Us Weekly, Blair was taken off a Delta airlines flight on a stretcher after a midflight outburst while en route from Cancun, Mexico, to LAX on Monday. The American Crime Story star spent Father’s Day with her ex, Jason Bleick, and their son, Arthur, in Cancun.
According to TMZ, Blair was seen mixing something in her wine and then crying about an unidentified man. “He burns my private parts. He won’t let me eat or drink,” she allegedly said. “He beats me. He’s going to kill me.”
Two nurses onboard the flight helped the actress by giving her oxygen to calm her down before she was taken to a nearby hospital.
Prior to the incident, an eyewitness told Us that Blair seemed to be in good spirits while vacationing with her ex and their son. “Selma seemed happy and healthy all weekend,” the source told Us.
