The 2014 Grammys weren’t a total loss for Sara Bareilles. The 34-year-old singer may not have won any trophies, but she certainly enjoyed performing with Carole King — and left with a pretty parting gift.
“What a night!! I’m so honored to have been here,” Bareilles tweeted. “Kick ass comrades taking home the trophies, but I’m all smiles and off to my whiskey!! Xox.”
The “Brave” singer lost Best Pop Solo Performance to Lorde, and Album of the Year to Daft Punk. The defeat, however, didn’t lead to bad blood with New Zealander Lorde, 17.
“Katniss hair + removal of braids = Lorde’s awesome hair. #wishitweremine,” Bareilles captioned a photo of herself on Instagram after the Grammys. The “Love Song” singer removed her Hunger Games-inspired hairstyle, which resulted in a curly look resembling the “Royals” singer’s signature hairdo.
In addition to her new ‘do, Bareilles was also celebrating her once-in-a-lifetime performance with legendary King, 71, who now seems to be her new BFF. After the two played a mash-up of their hits “Beautiful” and “Brave,” they gave an adorable speech praising one another before announcing the Grammy winner for Song of the Year.
“What a thrill to perform with the woman who has been such an inspiration to me,” Bareilles said. King added, “And what a thrill to see the future of music in such good hands.”
