There’s no straddling fences here. Ryan Reynolds shared in a new interview why his low-key, private life with his wife, Blake Lively, and their daughter, James, works — despite their high-profile careers in showbiz.
“I think it’s always a fine line,” the Deadpool actor, 39, told The Project on Tuesday, Dec. 1. “I’ve never been the guy stumbling out of bars at three in the morning, at least that anyone is aware of. It’s never been my thing.”
Reynolds and Lively, 28, have settled down with their 11-month-old baby girl in Bedford, a quiet town in New York that is also home to Martha Stewart.
“I think it’s keeping a boundary that there’s this world that is the job and the world that is the home,” Reynolds explained. “We don’t live in L.A. We live on a farm in New York. And we don’t lead a wild and crazy life. It’s not that hard. It’s not a big deal.”
Occasionally, work and home life will overlap, especially once baby James starts watching movies. While the actors won’t allow James to watch some of their racier films and TV shows (Green Lantern, The Town, The Proposal, Savages), James can watch the family films involving her parents. “Well, that’s a good question. There are some she shouldn’t see because they are awful,” Reynolds joked. “Let’s call a spade a spade. Luckily I have a couple of children’s movies under my belt. The Croods is one she would enjoy, and maybe Turbo. She could see those.”
Lively has previously gushed that her husband is the ultimate family man. While she was pregnant with their baby daughter in August 2014, Lively told Vogue: “He’s going to be a great father and leader and patriarch — he’s so meant to be all of those things. The fact that he lived so much before we got together, he’s the exact realized person that he should be. And so I get to share my life with the person he’s become, and we get to grow from there.”
