Great minds think — and look — alike! Ryan Reynolds revealed that he sees the resemblance between himself and Kate Beckinsale during his appearance on the Today show on Thursday, December 12.
Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin showed Reynolds, 43, a clip of the Underworld star, 46, calling him her doppelganger while on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in October.
Reynolds told Kotb, 55, and Melvin, 40, that looking at Beckinsale is ” like looking in a mirror.”
The Deadpool star jokingly added, “I mean I was gonna wear that [Beckinsale’s evening gown] today. This has been something that I’ve heard for a long time. Other people have said it to me as well.”
In October, Beckinsale shared that she couldn’t get over how strikingly similar she looks to the actor. “I look exactly like Ryan Reynolds,” she told host Jimmy Fallon. “Like in a shocking way. Like, when sometimes I see a bus going by with a poster on it I think, ‘Damn, I look hot. Oh, wait, that’s not me. Also, I’ve never done that movie.'”
Reynolds responded to Beckinsale’s claim on Instagram shortly after her appearance on The Tonight Show. “We already have a script!” he captioned a photo from the 1993 Halloween film Double, Double Toil and Trouble starring real-life twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. Reynolds placed pictures of himself and Beckinsale over the 33-year-old Olsen twins’ faces.
The Free Guy actor still makes time for jokes even though he’s being kept busy with three children. Us Weekly broke the news in October that he and his wife, Blake Lively, welcomed their third child. He admitted during his Today show appearance that leaving his family has become more difficult.
“Leaving the house is getting harder and harder,” he explained. “It gets a lot harder when they ask, ‘Where are you going? When are you coming home? Why are you leaving me?’”
A source told Us in October that Reynolds is making an effort to be there for his wife and children.
“Ryan left the set he was working [on] for about eight days,” the insider said at the time. “They do everything they can to make sure [the kids] have a normal upbringing.”
The couple, who wed in September 2012, are the parents of James, 4, and Inez, 3. They have yet to share the name of their third child.
