Taking it to the ring — on the red carpet! UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took a swipe at Floyd Mayweather during the 2015 ESPY Awards red carpet on Wednesday, July 15.
The athlete slammed the professional boxer in an interview with ESPN as she was receiving the award for Best Fighter, which Mayweather was also nominated for.
“I can’t help but say I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once,” the Entourage star, 28, said. “I’d like to see him pretend to not know who I am now.”
Rousey and Mayweather, 38, have been in a war of words for over a year now. In June 2014, Mayweather said he didn’t know “who he is” when asked about Rousey.
Earlier this year, Mayweather’s rival, Manny Pacquiao, added his two cents when he said that Rousey is strong enough to beat Mayweather in a fight.
“Well, I would never say that I can’t beat anyone,” Rousey said in response to Access Hollywood. She added, touching on his history of domestic abuse: “I don’t think me and (Mayweather) would ever fight unless we ended up dating.”
