Whoa, what, explain! Ricky Gervais made a comment to Mel Gibson onstage at the 2016 Golden Globes that was censored, and Us Weekly has the inside scoop about what exactly was said.
Taking to the stage, Gibson, 60, made a few digs at Gervais, who’d insulted him in his introduction. “I love seeing Ricky every three years, because it reminds me to get a colonoscopy,” Gibson cracked.
Gervais, 54, then came back on stage with a bemused expression. “You don’t need to put your drink here,” Gibson said to the host, who was sipping a beer throughout the night. “I’ll put you to sleep without a drink.”
Gervais leaned over to Gibson, and quietly said something that was bleeped out during the live broadcast; whatever was said left Gibson visibly flustered. “I don’t know,” he replied to Gervais. “Ask the guy who said it. It wasn’t me.”
Us Weekly has the scoop from inside the venue: After Gibson told Gervais that he would put him to sleep, the host leaned over and remarked: “What does sugar tits mean, anyway?”
The moment, of course, referred to Gibson’s infamous 2006 DUI arrest, when he said to a female police officer who was arresting him: “What do you think you’re looking at, sugar tits?”
