Zhang Ziyi, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon actress, is being investigated over claims she earned $110 million by prostituting herself to Chinese communist officials.
According to the Daily Mail, Ziyi, 33, has been accused in unsubstantiated reports from the Chinese media that she slept with Bo Xilai, the former mayor of Chongqing, between 2007 and 2011 in exchange for large sums of money.
The reports also claim Ziyi slept with other powerful officials in Beijing. Xu Ming, a multimillionaire Chinese businessman has reportedly admitted to paying Ziyi about $945,000 to sleep with her in 2007.
The actress and three-time BAFTA nominee has denied the allegations and reportedly threatened legal action. Ziyi was absent from the 2012 Cannes Film Festival for promotions of her new film Dangerous Liaisons. Some reports claim Ziyi is not allowed to leave the country while the Chinese government investigates the claims against her.
In an online statement via China.org, Ziyi's team said, "We will prove our side of the story; we'll seek legal justice; we'll find you in the darkest corner and go after you. We will seek justice for Zhang Ziyi by taking legal action against Apple Daily and against any other media publishing these false reports."
