Handled like a true gentleman! Prince Harry received — and sweetly rejected — and adorable marriage proposal from a 6-year-old at a youth event he attended in Stockport, England, on Tuesday, June 21.
While in town to help promote sports as a way to tackle social challenges, the 31-year-old royal was presented with a very forward request.
“I want to marry you. I want to be a princess,” a little girl named Lottie told Harry.
Prince William’s younger brother kept his composure as he responded to her proposal in the kindest way possible.
“You don’t want that — there’s too big an age gap,” he said. “You’ve been reading a lot of books.”
Harry also chatted briefly with another little girl, who sported a head full of red hair, just like his. “You’re nice, very pretty,” he said. “Are you having fun?”
Harry’s visit to the community rugby program, where he showed off some fancy footwork on the field, comes as part of an initiative to spread awareness about the benefits of engaging in sports.
Earlier this month, the young royal visited a boxing club in south London to see how the sport could help vulnerable kids.
