When Barack Obama and Jay-Z get together, the United States president and the hip-hop mogul typically talk about what matters most: the women in their lives.
During a recent radio interview with Cleveland's Z107.9, the commander-in-chief, 51, was asked about the nature of his friendship with the "Hard Knock Life" rapper, 44, and Beyonce Knowles, 31. (Jay-Z's wife performed the Etta James classic "At Last" during Obama's inaugural ball in 2009.)
"I've gotten to know these guys over the first several years," Obama said. "They're good people. They're down to earth. Beyonce could not be sweeter to Michelle and the girls. So they're good friends. They really are down-to-earth folks. We talk about the same things I talk about with all my friends."
The politician last met with the power couple when Jay-Z hosted a campaign fundraiser at his 40/40 club in New York City in September. "I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with Blue Ivy, 10 months]," Obama said. "And not leaving it all with mom and the mother-in-law." (Obama and the First Lady, 48, are parents to daughters Malia, 14, and Sasha, 11.)
Obama also said he prefers Jay-Z's "My First Song" over "99 Problems," because the track reminds him "to always stay hungry."
