Harris Wittels, a writer, comedian, and an executive producer on Parks and Recreation, was found dead in his home on Thursday, Feb. 19, just one week before the show’s series finale airs, TMZ reports. According to the site, the 30-year-old TV exec died from an apparent overdose.
Wittels, who was vocal about his battle with drug addiction and sought treatment in rehab twice, also wrote and produced for comedies Eastbound and Down and The Sarah Silverman Program.
According to TMZ, the funnyman had just performed a stand-up routine in Los Angeles last night, where he talked about being sober, but according to law enforcement, Wittels was found dead on his couch and there was drug paraphernalia found in the home.
The finale for Parks and Recreation airs Feb. 24.
