Donald Trump’s close pal Omarosa is sticking up for him once again. The 42-year-old reality star defended the Republican presidential candidate in an interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews on Friday, March 11, adding that she thinks that protesters simply “get what’s coming” to them.
Omarosa — who was a contestant on the first season of The Apprentice, as well as The Celebrity Apprentice and a special All-Stars season — explained her thoughts on the canceled Trump campaign rally in Chicago on Friday, where several fights broke out.
“Donald can’t be responsible for every single person that comes to his rally,” she said. “Listen, you have a right to go into a closed, private event and you get what is coming to you. I do not condone violence. If you go into an environment where you’re interrupting 13, 14 times, do you expect a hug or ‘Kumbaya’?”
When Matthews asked the TV villain if Trump provoked the rowdy crowds, Omarosa (née Omarose Onee Manigault) pointed the finger at Trump’s East Coast upbringing.
“He’s a New Yorker. What do you want him to say?” she asked. “He’s not gonna be pushed around.”
Francesca Chambers, a reporter who also appeared during the segment, noted that she never witnessed such violent incidents at rallies for Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
“I typically cover the Democrats, and I have never seen that kind of behavior go down at a Hillary Clinton rally or a Bernie Sanders rally,” Chambers said. “Sure, it gets fiery sometimes, especially at the Sanders rallies. A lot of booing for Hillary Clinton quite often.”
The journalist added, “No one’s ever, when I’ve been at any of those rallies, been punched.”
The GOP candidate himself appeared on Meet the Press on Sunday, March 13, to reveal that he’s considering paying for the legal fees of one of his supporters who punched a protester at a previous rally in North Carolina.
John McGraw was arrested and charged with assault, battery and disorderly conduct after allegedly punching a black man being escorted from the event. Trump said that McGraw, 78, “got carried away” and “obviously loves his country.”
