An emotional time. Miranda Lambert broke down in tears while singing a song she cowrote with her ex-husband, Blake Shelton, during a concert in the Chicago area on Friday, July 29.
While singing her 2012 single “Over You,” the country songstress, 32, could barely get the words out and had to rely on her fans to help finish the emotional tune at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, Illinois.
According to Chicago Now, Lambert’s usual upbeat energy wasn’t there and she had a “low-key attitude.” The singer reportedly told fans that she was having a rough night, felt hormonal and had cramps.
Later in her set, she broke down once again during “The House That Built Me.” One concertgoer tells Us Weekly, “She was amazing. But emotionally unstable. Crying the whole show.”
Several fans took to social media after Friday night’s concert to discuss the “Heart Like Mine” singer’s heartbreaking moment.
“@mirandalambert made me cry from her crying,” one Twitter user wrote. Another added, “Miranda Lambert Crying Last Night while the whole crowd sang the House that Built Me made my entire summer.”
An Instagram user shared a photo of herself with one of her friends at the concert, which she captioned, “Thx so much for crying with me during all of ‘Over You’ last night. Miranda Lambert defffffffinitely got the best of us.”
Lambert and Shelton, 40, wrote “Over You” as a tribute to his late older brother, who died when Shelton was a teenager. The song earned the former couple the 2012 Country Music Award for Song of the Year.
The country singers announced they were divorcing after four years of marriage in July 2015. Four months later, Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Shelton quickly moved on with fellow Voice coach Gwen Stefani. In December 2015, Lambert started dating country singer Anderson East.
