Better safe than sorry, right? Mila Kunis revealed in a Monday, August 8, interview with Australia’s Kyle & Jackie O radio show why she keeps her engagement ring from husband Ashton Kutcher locked away instead of on her hand.
“My engagement ring is in a safety deposit box, and I’m like, ‘I can’t wear this because someone’s going to chop my hand off for it,’” the Bad Moms star, 32, said of her Tiffany’s solitaire diamond, which is reportedly worth a whopping $250,000.
In addition to keeping her ring hidden to rid herself of worries that someone might try to snatch her 5-carat rock, Kunis purchased budget-friendly wedding bands for herself and Kutcher, 38, from Etsy.
“I decided our wedding bands were going to be wonderful and beautiful and simple, and so we got them made on Etsy,” Kunis, who tied the knot with the Jobs actor in a romantic ceremony on July 4, 2015, explained.
During a Wednesday, July 27, appearance on Conan, the That ’70s Show alum flaunted her bargain bauble and told the story behind her decision to spend only $190 on both her own band and Kutcher’s.
“I wanted the thinnest possible platinum band,” the mom of daughter Wyatt, 20 months, who is pregnant and expecting her second child with Kutcher, recalled. “I was like, ‘They’re how much? What, this is astronomical!’ So, I went on Etsy and I was like, ‘$90?’ I was like, ‘Buy now!'”
“Ashton’s was $100, so technically his wedding band was a little bit more expensive,” she added. While the Ukrainian-born beauty was incredibly excited to find nicely priced wedding bands, she insisted that she truly appreciates the sizable sparkler that Kutcher gave her when he asked for her hand in marriage.
“He got me a beautiful engagement ring,” the actress told late-night host O’Brien. “Like, stunning, stunning, stunning! … My engagement ring is beautiful, but I don’t ever wear it. This ring, I’m like, ‘It’s $90!’ It’s great.”
