Surprisingly, it wasn’t Donald Trump who offended a mass amount of people during a live tweet of the Democratic debate on Tuesday, Oct. 13. Fellow GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee tweeted what he seemingly meant to be a joke about Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders — but not everyone thought it was funny.
“I trust @BernieSanders with my tax dollars like I trust a North Korean chef with my labrador! #DemDebate,” he wrote, prompting many to call him a racist.
But the former Arkansas governor, 60, refused to back down, posting his tweet a second time with the added note: “Poor liberals think it's racist to deplore a brutal dictatorship. #DemDebate.”

Several followers were quick to point out the irony in Huckabee’s tweet, considering his son David was accused of capturing and hanging a stray dog at Boy Scout camp as a teen.
“It was mangy. It looked like it was going to attack,” Huckabee told Larry King to excuse his son’s actions in a 2007 interview.
