Madonna Meets With Guy Ritchie Over Custody of Rocco, Is in ‘Such a Good Mood’

Guy Ritchie and Madonna attend the world premiere of 'RocknRolla' at Odeon West End on Sept. 1, 2008.

Madonna is closer to keeping her baby. The pop star, 57, had a meaningful heart-to-heart with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie regarding their son Rocco’s custody on April 8. The 15-year-old currently resides with his dad in England, despite a December court ruling placing him in Madonna’s care in New York.

“The meeting went well and it’s a great sign of things to come,” a Madonna insider says in the latest issue of Us Weekly.

The sit-down took place at the Rebel Heart singer’s central London home the day after she landed in the U.K. Two days later, Ritchie, 47, dropped Rocco at his mom’s for two hours of quality time.

“This is the first sign of him getting close to his mom again,” the source adds. “She’s in such a good mood.”

Madonna and Ritchie are also parents of David, 10, who they adopted together. The “Ghosttown” singer is also mom of Lourdes, 19, with ex Carlos Leon, and Mercy, 10, who she also adopted.

Sources say Rocco’s desire to stay with dad has been attributed to the film director’s lenient attitude, and Madge worried her ex-husband had been trying to turn her son against her. “He’s telling Rocco he should stay with him,” a second Madonna insider told Us in January. “You can’t blame him for wanting to live with someone who will let him run wild.”

As the hostile custody battle waged on, Ritchie seemed to lighten his stance, with plans for a peace talk coming together last month. And if the parents, who divorced in 2008 after eight years of marriage, don’t figure things out, they’ll have to report to NYC court for a hearing on June 1.

Madonna’s lawyer told a High Court justice March 21, "She wants to chart a course for Rocco and the family to help put this behind them and restore peace to the family.”
