At long last, Lindsay Lohan is in the clear.
The actress appeared in L.A. court Thursday, where Judge Stephanie Sautner took Lohan off probation from her 2007 Beverly Hills DUI case. “She has completed [her sentencing] short of a year. She has done everything that this court has asked of her,” Sautner said.
Lohan, 25, smiled and mouthed, “Oh my God!” after Sautner delivered the news. Had she not completed the terms of her probation, which included community service and psychotherapy sessions, Sautner could have sentenced Lohan to 270 days in jail.
Though her DUI case is now behind her, the Mean Girls actress will remain on probation for her necklace theft until May 24, 2014. “The only terms left for you on that case are to obey all laws. Not that hard,” Sautner explained.
“I know it’s kind of hard with people following you all over the place. . .but that’s the life you chose. I’m not going to give a lecture because you know what you need to do,” Sautner told Lohan. “You need to live your life in a more mature way. Stop the nightclubbing and focus on your work.”
Lohan and her lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, expressed their gratitude at the end of the hearing. “I just want to say thank you for being fair,” Lohan told Sautner. “It’s really opened a lot of doors for me, so I really appreciate it.”
