Kanye West might have some competition for the White House — in Lindsay Lohan! We’re still a year away from the 2016 presidential election, but the 2020 race is already heating up. On Friday, Oct. 16, the Mean Girls actress threw her name into the ring via Instagram, sharing a photo of herself at the 2012 White House Correspondents Dinner, which she attended as a guest of Greta Van Susteren.
“In #2020 I may run for president,” Lohan, 29, captioned the pic. “Through ups and downs #YESWECAN lets do this @kanyewest #truespirits thank you for inspiring us to be better people @barackobama #kanyewest2020 #lindsaylohanat35 #lindsaylohan2020 with #34yearsofEXPERIENCE #unitingWORLDnations”
Lohan didn’t say whether she was serious about her political ambitions, but she followed up with a second post — a snapshot of her and West, 38. “The first thing I would like to do as president of [the United States] is take care of all the children suffering in the world,” she wrote. “#queenELIZABETH showed me how by having me in her country.”
The former child star’s “announcement” comes two months after a similar declaration from West, who said at the 2015 MTV VMAs that he would make a run at the Oval Office in five years.
“That was news to me,” his wife, Kim Kardashian, told Ellen DeGeneres after the fact, noting that she believes he’s “serious” about the plan. “That wasn’t a discussion in our household. That’s a big thing to, you know, not talk to your wife about.”
That said, the KUWTK star is totally game for a move to Washington, D.C. “I was joking with him, I was like, ‘You’re going to have to make it to a second term,’ because he loves redecorating,” Kardashian, 34, quipped. “So I was like, ‘You’re going to want to redo the whole White House, and we’re not going to be able to enjoy it.'”
