Say it ain’t so! Liam Hemsworth set the record straight about his relationship status in a new interview with TV Week Australia, and he says he and ex-fiancée Miley Cyrus aren’t betrothed.
“I am not engaged, no,” the 26-year-old Aussie actor recently told the publication.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire star first proposed to the “Wrecking Ball” singer in June 2012 after three years of on-off dating, but the pair called off the engagement in September 2013 and remained friends.
Rumors started circulating that the couple had rekindled their romance and were engaged again after Cyrus, 23, visited Hemsworth in Australia for New Year’s. Shortly afterward, she was frequently seen sporting her gorgeous 2012 engagement ring.
Hemsworth also talked about why he’s been keeping a low profile. “I don’t leave my home,” the Independence Day: Resurgence actor told TV Week Australia. “For the last few months, [because] I had a back injury, I really couldn’t do much. So I have honestly been at my house most of the time.”
Although the Dressmaker actor says they aren’t officially engaged, the couple are still seriously dating. The pop star even purchased a four-bedroom home in Malibu to share with Hemsworth, as Us Weekly previously reported. “The plan is for Liam to stay there while they reconnect, and then move in permanently when he’s ready,” a source told Us.
“Miley and Liam are doing amazing. She seems so grounded and happy,” a second source said. “Miley is texting [Liam’s sister-in-law] Elsa and other members of Liam’s family again. They’ve seemed to welcome her in with open arms.” Cyrus was even spotted grabbing lunch with Hemsworth and his two brothers in L.A. on Friday, April 8.
