Mary Ellen Trainor, an actress best known for her role as police psychiatrist Dr. Stephanie Woods in all four of the Lethal Weapon franchise movies, has died. She was 62.
Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed the news to The Hollywood Reporter on Monday, June 8. According to Kennedy, her lifelong friend passed away last month in her Montecito, Calif., home on May 20, after suffering complications from pancreatic cancer.
Trainor found her calling as an actress after marrying director Robert Zemeckis in 1980. The two divorced in 2000, but her acting career continued.
The star went on to appear in 1985 classic The Goonies, in which she portrayed Mikey and Brand's mom, Mrs. Walsh. She also had a memorable role in 1984 flick Romancing the Stone, in which she played Kathleen Turner's kidnapped sister Elaine.
Trainor's film credits also include Forrest Gump, Back to the Future Part II, Ghostbusters II, Die Hard, and Freaky Friday.
Trainor is survived by her son Alex, mom Jane, and four siblings.
