Courtside collision. LeBron James crashed into the wife of Australian golfer Jason Day during a game at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland on Thursday, December 17.
James’ Cleveland Cavaliers were playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder when the scary incident happened. The NBA superstar, 30, knocked Ellie Day off her seat and fell on top of her while trying to keep the basketball from going out of bounds. The 29-year-old was put on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
The 6-foot-8 athlete later addressed the accident during a postgame interview. “Obviously, her health is very important, and hopefully she’s doing well. The guys told us she’s doing great now. Going for a loose ball, I was just trying to keep the possession going, and I hate that that was the end result of it,” he told ESPN.
He added: “She squeezed my hand, said she was fine. I think she was just a little weary.”
Jason and Ellie married in 2009 and live in Westerville, Ohio. They are parents of son Dash, 3, and daughter Lucy, 1 month.
