This year’s Christmas celebration will be a special one for Lamar Odom. The former NBA star, 36, is still recovering at Cedars-Sinai hospital in Los Angeles after being found unconscious at a Nevada brothel in October, but come December 25, he will be spending the holidays with his loved ones as he celebrates his progress.
A source tells Us that Odom’s two children will be flying to L.A. to spend Christmas with him. The former reality star speaks to them every day.
“He has fought to get better mostly for them,” the source tells Us.
Odom shares daughter Destiny and son Lamar Jr. with his ex Liza Morales. The former couple lost their youngest son, Jayden, to SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) in 2006, when he was 6 months old.
Though he’s been through a lot of hardship, Odom’s condition is steadily improving with the prospect of his family’s impending visit.
“He is supposed to be moved to the rehab center any day now,” the source adds. “He’s actually making progress every day.”
For Thanksgiving, Odom had another special visitor. His estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, left her family’s celebration that she’d been hosting to bring him a home-cooked meal in the hospital.
“She really just wanted to get out of there and go see and make sure he was OK for Thanksgiving,” Kris Jenner recently told Maria Menounos of the holiday. “I thought, ‘Wow, that’s an amazing human.’ That really made my whole day.”
