Lamar Odom’s “Been In a Downward Spiral for a While,” Source Says

Lamar Odom "has been in a downward spiral for a while," a source says
A source tells Us Weekly that Lamar Odom, who was hospitalized on Tuesday, Oct. 13, after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel, has "been in a downward spiral for a while"

As Lamar Odom fights for his life in a Las Vegas hospital after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel on Tuesday, Oct. 13, a source tells Us Weekly that the NBA star's friends have been worried about him for some time.

"He's been in a downward spiral for a while," a source tells Us. "It's very scary and sad."

Odom, 35, who checked into Dennis Hof's Love Ranch South in Pahrump, Nev., on Saturday, Oct. 10, was found unconscious at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday after reportedly popping herbal Viagra pills, and was taken to a local hospital. The former Los Angeles Lakers player, who has battled substance abuse and checked into rehab in the past, was later transported to a Las Vegas hospital for further treatment.

"Things are very, very bad and everyone is praying he pulls through," the source tells Us. "Everyone is rushing to be with him."

As Us previously reported, Odom's estranged wife, Khloe Kardashian, 31, rushed to be by his side soon after she learned of the news. The former couple, who wed in 2009 after dating for just a month, split in 2013, following reports of Odom's cheating and drug use. They both signed off on the divorce papers this year, but a judge has not yet signed the final judgment documents.

The past several months have been rough for Odom, as he lost two close friends in June. A source told Us at the time that the athlete was "beside himself" with grief after the death of his best friend, Jamie Sangouthai, from a skin infection as well as intravenous drug abuse. Another pal, Bobby Heyward, died days later.

The former NBA Sixth Man of the Year, who was dropped by the New York Knicks in 2014, moved to an apartment in Las Vegas in June, the source said, and both Kardashian and his former mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, were "very worried" that his substance abuse would "spiral out of control."

As fans and loved ones pray that Odom pulls through, news of his condition has reached his former Lakers teammates. Team spokesman John Black told the OC Register that the players and management are monitoring the situation "as best we can and, yes, [we are] concerned."
