Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift: You ‘Dissed My Husband Just to Play the Victim Again’

Looks like this feud is far from over! Kim Kardashian slammed Taylor Swift in a new interview with GQ, defending her husband Kanye West’s controversial lyrics for his popular Life of Pablo track “Famous.”

“She totally approved that,” GQ’s latest cover girl said in the interview. “She totally knew that that was coming out. She wanted to all of a sudden act like she didn’t. I swear, my husband gets so much s–t for things [when] he really was doing proper protocol and even called to get it approved. What rapper would call a girl that he was rapping a line about to get approval?”

The line in question: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”

After the song came out, the 39-year-old rapper took to Twitter to clarify that he had called Swift, 26, expressly for the purpose of asking her approval to use the line. The pop star’s team denied that West had ever asked for permission, and later that month, Swift made a pointed snipe at West during her acceptance speech at the Grammys.

“I want to say to all the young women out there — there are going to be people along the way who are going to try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” she said as she accepted the award for Album of the Year. “But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world.”

Kardashian, 35, told GQ that Swift’s dig was unwarranted, however, and that West had not only called for approval but had also filmed the phone call.

“Rick Rubin was there. So many respected people in the music business heard that [conversation] and knew,” the mom of two said. “… It was funny because [on the call with Kanye, Taylor] said, ‘When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I’m so against this, and I’ll just laugh and say, ‘The joke’s on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.’ And I’m like, wait, but [in] your Grammy speech, you completely dissed my husband just to play the victim again.”

According to the Selfish author, the only time West and Swift were in touch after Swift’s Grammy speech was when someone from the 1989 singer’s team sent a letter ordering West not to ever release the tapes.

“And then they sent an attorney’s letter like, ‘Don’t you dare do anything with that footage,’ and asking us to destroy it,” Kardashian said.

In response, a spokesperson for Swift told GQ: “A song cannot be approved if it was never heard. Kanye West never played the song for Taylor Swift. Taylor heard it for the first time when everyone else did and was humiliated. Kim Kardashian’s claim that Taylor and her team were aware of being recorded is not true, and Taylor cannot understand why Kanye West, and now Kim Kardashian, will not just leave her alone.”
