The group of men who attacked and robbed Kim Kardashian in Paris were inside her private residence for nearly an hour and “clearly knew the security code,” a Paris judicial police source tells Us Weekly.
According to the source, officials believe the robbers spent up to 49 minutes inside and around Kardashian’s private residence at Hôtel de Pourtalès, contrary to previous reports which estimated that the gang spent a mere few minutes at the property.
“They acted like they had all the time in the world,” the police insider explains, adding that authorities used a traffic camera to work out the timing of the incident. “It is quite incredible that they managed to hang about for so long without anyone calling us.”
The source says the first three suspects, who were wearing black jackets, arrived at the residence on bicycles at 2:18 a.m, explaining, “They clearly knew the security code of the main doors, and let themselves in without any problem at all.” Fourteen minutes later, the remaining two men arrived on foot and allowed themselves into the building using the same entrance.
According to the police insider, closed-circuit television footage captured the fivesome leaving at 3:07 a.m., 49 minutes after the first group arrived. Some of them walked away “briskly, but looking very relaxed,” while the others escaped on bicycles.
A source previously told Us that the burglars set up a sophisticated escape ruse in an attempt to fool police into thinking “they were amateurs.”
Kardashian’s lawyer, meanwhile, told reporters, including Us Weekly, that the star is ready to help find and apprehend the robbers.
“She is very calm and very determined over a matter that was particularly violent,” the 35-year-old reality star’s Paris barrister, Jean Veil, says. “If she is summoned to France, she will come to France, but judges also have the possibility of moving [to the United States].”
The five men involved in the terrifying attack face charges of “armed robbery by an organized gang, criminal conspiracy and kidnapping,” Veil adds.
As previously reported, the men attacked a male concierge inside the building in order to gain access to Kardashian’s luxury apartment. The group then gagged and tied up the reality star in a bathtub as they escaped with more than $10 million worth of jewelry.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star’s husband, Kanye West, was performing in New York at the time of the raid. The couple’s two children, North, 3, and Saint, 10 months, were also in NYC.
The five robbers, who Kardashian described as middle-aged, Caucasian men of European descent, are still at large.
