Nope, wrong person. Kathie Lee Gifford mistook Justin Bieber for Kristen Stewart during the Today show on Wednesday, March 23.
Gifford was discussing Bieber’s recent decision to terminate fan meet-and-greets at concerts with her fourth-hour cohost, Hoda Kotb, while squinting at the screen before her, which featured a recent photo of the former YouTube star.
“That looks like a woman … I’m sorry, I keep thinking, ‘Is that Kristen Stewart?’” Gifford asked. “There’s earrings … does it not look like Kristen Stewart? Is that Bieber?”
After Kotb assured her that yes, that’s the pop star, Gifford went on to express her distaste for the “Sorry” singer’s recent announcement. As previously reported by Us Weekly, 22-year-old Bieber announced on Tuesday, March 22, that he’s decided to cancel all meet-and-greets because he ends up “feeling so drained” and “mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression.”
“He has 114 shows scheduled … maybe he should not do as many tours. … I think he’s awfully young and awfully fit to be exhausted. Look what Taylor Swift does for her fans,” Gifford expressed. “It’s not a good idea to disappoint fans. … That is not cool because the people that love you will stay with you for the rest of your career if you treat them right.”
