There was some havoc near St. Mary’s Hospital in London on Tuesday, April 21, but none (just yet!) for Kate Middleton and Prince William‘s baby-to-be.
At around 8:45 a.m. local time, fifteen calls were made to emergency services after a Chicken Cottage takeaway caught on fire on nearby Praed Street.
The roads behind the Paddington, London hospital, where the Duchess of Cambridge is expected to give birth in the plush Lindo Wing, were quickly shut down due to the blaze. The same roads are located right along the hospital’s baby/intensive care unit.
There were no reported injuries, and a London Fire Brigade spokesman told Us Weekly: “Crews are at the scene.”
As previously reported by Us, parking restriction signs went up last week ahead of Royal Baby-palooza, and workers have been steadfastly securing the perimeters around the Lindo Wing. The Duchess will return to the spot for the birth of her second child, after she and Prince William welcomed Prince George at the same hospital in July 2013.
The cost to stay at the Lindo Wing has gone up since then, but the royal couple will receive a “loyalty discount” of 10 percent off. A suite of two rooms currently costs $9,650 (£6,570) each night.
Meanwhile, the pregnant Duchess visited her hometown of Bucklebury this past weekend to see her mother Carole and father Michael Middleton. Prince George tagged along and visited the local farm, where he had so much fun, according to one observer. “George was in a cute jacket and was having the time of his life,” the eyewitness told Us on Monday. “If those giggles were anything to go by.”
Prince William, meanwhile, remains committed to his royal duties and is scheduled for an official engagement this weekend.
