Joni Mitchell is on the road to recovery. The beloved singer-songwriter, 71, is making progress after being found unconscious in her home this past March.

In new court documents obtained by multiple outlets, Mitchell’s attorney, Rebecca Thyne, gives an update on the musician’s health after she suffered a brain aneurysm. Mitchell’s ex-boyfriend David Crosby broke the news of the aneurysm in June, and it was later confirmed by her conservator, Leslie Morris.

“When I arrived she was seated at her kitchen table feeding herself lunch,” Thyne wrote in the papers of the “Big Yellow Taxi” songstress, who was previously having trouble walking as a result of the health scare. “She also told me that she receives excellent care from caregivers round-the-clock. It was clear that she was happy to be home and that she has made remarkable progress… She has physical therapy each day and is expected to make a full recovery.”

The papers were filed in order to extend Morris’ conservatorship of her friend under medical advice. Thyne asked that Morris be named Mitchell’s official conservator as the singer has “made great progress toward recovery” but a neurological report “indicates that she lacks capacity to make informed medical decisions.”

The lawyer added, “I agreed that [Mitchell] still needs assistance with such decisions.”
