You want him, you got him! Jon Stewart made a surprise appearance on WWE Raw on Monday, Mar. 2, to confront pro wrestler Seth Rollins once and for all.
Their feud first began last month when Rollins joked that he would be the perfect person to take over Stewart’s Daily Show hosting gig. (Stewart announced on Feb. 10 that he would be leaving the show in 2015 after 16 years.)
“Right now, I am the most talented performer in the entire world. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want,” Rollins, 28, told the WWE crowd on Feb. 19. “Hell, if I wanted, I could become president. Or I could take over as host of The Daily Show for Jon Stewart and make that thing actually watchable.”
Stewart, 52, wasted no time responding. “You just stepped in a world of hurt, my friend,” he later said. “I’m coming for you Rollins, and you’re gonna see it: 160 pounds of dynamite.”
Indeed, on Monday night, the actor-producer surprised the packed stadium, inciting a war of words with the athlete. His Daily Show theme song came on as he confidently stormed toward the ring.
“How could I make a fool out of a man dressed like a SWAT team stripper with Lady Gaga hair? I’m not here to do that! You’re my friend!” Stewart teased. “You may be stronger than me, you may be better looking than me, you may be taller than me — but let me tell you this. I have something you will never have, which is respect.”
Ready to pounce, Rollins then jumped up and grabbed the star’s chest. Luckily for Stewart though, Randy Orton’s unexpected entrance gave him just enough time to kick Rollins and escape.
