Don’t mess with Stamos! John Stamos is defending the 90’s sitcom he’s known for, Full House, after a Huffington Post blogger bashed the show in an essay, calling it unrealistic and “dumb TV.”
Written by Annelia Alex on May 15, the post, which was titled The Lies I Learned From Dumb TV, argued that shows like Full House, Friends, Will & Grace and more, “distorted [her] expectations for reality.”

Alex went on to list specific “lies” she learned from watching the show: “When you get upset and flee a situation, someone chases after you,” “You can work as a coffee shop waitress or struggling writer and afford a 1,100 sq. foot apartment in Manhattan,” “You will be friends and ultimately more-than-friends with the attractive person in the apartment across the hall.”
Stamos, who played Uncle Jesse on the ABC sitcom from 1987 to 1995, took to his Facebook page to respond to the post. “Don’t blame the way your life turned out because of TGIF,” the actor wrote on May 17, referring to show’s well-known ABC timeslot.
Although Stamos did admit the series presented some “unrealistic stuff,” he went on to heatedly argue: “If you’re lucky enough to have kids—maybe you should have them watch re-runs of Breaking Bad—see how that turns out.” The actor added: “I bet more good than bad came out of those shows. Sorry it didn’t turn out that way for you, Annelia, or you simply just weren’t bright enough to take the good from what we did and laugh at the rest.”
Two days later, Alex responded to Stamos’ post, denying she “slammed” Full House and said she was “surprised” by Stamos’ reaction.
The author wasn’t shy about including a diss—”I didn’t know that John Stamos was still a media presence. I called my mom and she informed me, ‘Oh yes. He does Greek yogurt commercials [Dannon] now, which makes sense because he is Greek and handsome.'”
