On Friday, Joey’s loving husband, Rory, confirmed her death on his blog, This Life I Live.
“My wife’s greatest dream came true today. She is in Heaven,” he wrote in the touching post. “The cancer is gone, the pain has ceased and all her tears are dry. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin and using her pretty voice to sing for her savior.”
The couple, who comprised country music duo Joey + Rory and share 2-year-old daughter Indiana, have documented their daily lives since Joey opted to cease medical treatment last October. (She was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer in June 2015.)
Rory noted that though his wife’s passing is tough, he is also trying to look on the brighter side of things.
“Though this is, and has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy,” he wrote. “There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share in this blog. But I try. … So if it’s OK, I’m gonna close, wipe my tear and pack our bags to hit the road headed south. She’s already got a head-start on me.”
