Feel better soon! Joe Manganiello was reportedly hospitalized last week following a serious case of appendicitis and an accompanying surgery.
TMZ reports that the True Blood alum, 39, entered the hospital late last week for an appendix removal; but when doctors began to perform the surgery, they reportedly ran into complications.
Manganiello dropped out of a charity gala on Sunday, April 17. At the time, a rep for the Magic Mike star told Entertainment Tonight that he had cancelled last minute due to “health issues.”
He and his wife, Sofia Vergara, were set to appear as honorary co-chairs at a West Hollywood event on behalf of the Stuart House, a facility that offers support to sexual abuse victims. Fashion designer John Varvatos, who invited the couple to the affair, spoke out about Manganiello’s health Sunday night.
"Basically they just couldn't make it because [he] is recovering," Varvatos explained to ET. "I don't know a lot about it other than that he's had a little bit of a health problem. We wish him the best. We thank him for all his support that he's given us and, most importantly, to get well soon because he's such a wonderful guy.”
A source told Us Weekly at the time that Manganiello is expected to make a full recovery as his condition is manageable and nothing new.
Prior to his health scare, Manganiello made headlines after dropping out of the History Channel's upcoming drama series Six. A network rep confirmed to Us that production for the project has been delayed as Manganiello’s role is being recast.
