Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at political pundits when he pretended to mansplain to Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton in a new sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Thursday, March 24.
“I’m gonna be your secret weapon now because I’m gonna help you win this election, no problem,” the TV personality, 48, said. “Are you familiar with mansplaining?”
“Oh yeah, that’s when a man explains something to a woman in a patronizing way?” Clinton, 68, replied, before Kimmel joked, “Actually, it’s when a man explains something to a woman in a condescending way, but you were close.”
The presidential candidate then proceeded to get behind a podium, where she pretended to give a speech as Kimmel commented, “Just talk, and I’ll correct you whenever I feel the need.”
At the start of her speech, Clinton sounded “a little shrill,” as Kimmel demanded that she smile more.
“You’re not doing it right,” he noted. “I can’t quite put my finger on it. It’s something. It’s that you’re not …”
“A man?” Clinton slyly responded before the host agreed.
After winning several primaries last week, the politician faced heavy criticism from journalists and social media users alike over one of her victory speeches, where she enthusiastically raised her voice. Fox News’ Brit Hume tweeted that Clinton was “shouting angrily,” while NBC’s Joe Scarborough told her to “smile.”
