Right at his fingertips! Jimmy Kimmel is just the guy to go to when trying to understand — in the fewest characters possible — the latest celebrity news. The late-night host gave a refresher course on Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus‘ current feud with the help of emojis on Monday, Aug. 31.
Over the weekend, the “Anaconda” rapper, 32, slammed the VMAs host on live television for a recent interview Cyrus did with the New York Times. (Cyrus, 22, said that Minaj made it all about herself when she got upset for being left out of the Video of the Year category.) “Don’t play with me, bitch!” Minaj mouthed across the stage.
As exclusively reported, Minaj’s outburst at the VMAs was no act. “Nicki was livid with Miley and decided to air her feelings onstage,” an insider told Us. “The anger was very real and not a pre-planned bit at all.”
Kimmel, 47, peppered in some humor amid the chaos Monday night. Amused, he explained how the tension escalated between the two women as if it were a bedtime story.
“A few days ago, Miley Cyrus gave an interview with the New York Times, in which she said some unflattering things about Nicki Minaj,” he said, using a poop emoji to refer to the, well, sh-t she said. Some other highlights included his use of a face with its tongue sticking out to describe Cyrus (because, of course!), a woman wearing a crown for Minaj, and a dog for when Minaj called Cyrus a bitch.
Bonus: He added in a Kanye West look-alike emoji and an American flag! The rapper, 38, announced during his Michael Jackson Video Vanguard acceptance speech that he’s running for president in 2020.
