Nobody wins! All three contestants on the Monday, January 18, episode of Jeopardy! walked away with nothing after none of the competitors on the talk show were able to correctly answer the Final Jeopardy! clue.
The clue in question was: “A 1957 event led to the creation of a national historic site in this city signed into law by a president whose library is now there too.”
The correct answer was Little Rock, Arkansas, where Bill Clinton was previously attorney general and later governor. The contestants Randi Kristensen, Liz Fritz and Mike Drummond bet their entire winnings totaling $33,000, only to lose everything when they responded with the cities Springfield, Austin and Atlanta, respectively.
“We have three players finishing with no money. We have no returning champion,” longtime Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek announced. “We will introduce three new players. So, sorry folks!”
This is the first time this has happened since February 2013. Watch the unusual triple loss and Trebek’s reaction above!
