Subliminal messages? Jennifer Lopez posted a cryptic Instagram picture of herself standing in front of graffiti reading “Protect Yo Heart” on Friday, August 26, amid rumors that she and beau Casper Smart have split.
In the image, which she reposted from producer Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas’ account, Lopez, 47, wears loose slacks and a blazer with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows over a crisp white shirt, her uniform for her role as Harlee Santos on Shades of Blue.
“@egt239 I think this is what you meant to post… Ha,” the actress captioned the photo, adding the hashtags “#protectyourheart,” “#shadesofblue” and “#setlife.”
The original photo that Goldsmith-Thomas posted featured the same images, but with a closer crop, so that the top of Lopez’s forehead, as well as the word Protect, are no longer in the frame.
Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Lopez and Smart, 29, are no longer an item, though neither party has explicitly confirmed the split news. The pair first began dating in late 2011, though they didn’t speak openly about their relationship until July 2012.
A source close to the singer tells Us that the split sounds “made-up, since that isn’t how their relationship works.”
On Sunday, August 21, Smart posted one last image to Instagram, telling fans that he would be signing off from social media.
“New experiment… Gonna try to live old school for a little while,” he wrote. “Going back to a time before social media. Gonna focus on personal connections over a type and text existence.”
The couple celebrated Lopez’s birthday party together among family and friends in Las Vegas on July 23.
