Jeb Bush’s secret is out! The former Florida governor is officially running for president for the Republican nomination, according to political commentator Nicolle Wallace. The View co-host revealed the details exclusively to The Insider’s Special Correspondent Debbie Matenopoulos, which will air on Thursday, April 30.
“I’m so excited that Jeb Bush is running,” Wallace, 43, told Matenopoulos. “I worked for him when I was 25. He really sort of shaped my views of what a conservative can be and is, and the problems they can solve and how they can solve them differently.”
She added: “I hope he’s successful. I hope he wins the nomination. I hope he wins the White House. But I’m going to be cheering for him from here.” (Wallace worked for Bush in 1999 before working with his brother, President George W. Bush, and the White House staff, for two terms.)
Bush, 62, will now compete against Senator Ted Cruz, Senator Rand Paul, and Senator Marco Rubio to win the nomination on the GOP ticket for the 2016 election. Former Secretary of State and New York Senator Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders are running for the Democratic nomination.
Wallace clearly had fun dishing with the “It’s All Greek to Me” bestselling author, who was one of The View’s original co-hosts. Matenopoulos, 40, sat on the panel with Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Star Jones, and Meredith Vieira from 1997 to 1999.
