Rapper Jay Z got incredibly sincere while accepting the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for his song “Holy Grail,” which features Justin Timberlake.
After opening (and stealing!) the show with wife of almost six years, Beyonce, singing “Drunk in Love,” Jay Z took to the stage to accept his award after cuddling up to the “Partition” singer in the audience.
As he stepped on stage, Jay Z jokingly threatened presenter Jamie Foxx with some fake punches after the actor spent half of his intro praising Beyonce’s curvaceous body. But during his speech, HOVA got serious and sentimental.
“I want to thank God, I mean, a little bit for this award, but also all the universe for conspiring and for putting that beautiful light of a young lady in my life,” the rapper declared.
And hoisting up his golden gramophone trophy he revealed, “I want to tell Blue, ‘Look, Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you!'”
The couple’s 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy has been the subject of several of their songs, including Beyonce’s recent single “Blue.”
Following her performance wearing a custom bra, La Perla collar, and revealing Nichole de Carle body suit, Beyonce slipped into a form-fitted gown, covered in white lace and showing off plenty of skin and snuggled up next to her Grammy-nominated hubby. She then lovingly looked on from the audience with pride as her husband took home the prize.
The singer, whose album was released in a shocking debut on iTunes on Dec. 13 and is not eligible for this year’s Grammys, was nominated for her collaboration with Jay Z on the song “Part II (On the Run).”
