Jared Leto gives good speech. As predicted by many, the star, 42, won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role trophy at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in L.A. Jan. 18 for his astonishing role in Dallas Buyers' Club as Rayon, a transgendered woman living with HIV-AIDS.
After accepting his trophy, the handsome star said he wanted to dedicate his honor to "all of the people who have lost their lives as the result of this dreadful disease. To the people around the world who are living with HIV-AIDS. I'd like to share it with the Rayons of the world," Leto continued. "To the people who have made a choice to live their lives . . . as they have chosen to dream it. I'm so proud that i've been able to glimpse the world through your eyes."
After paying homage to fellow nominees — including "the late and great James Gandolfini" (nominated for his role in Enough Said) — Leto made sure to pay tribute to his date for the night: His beautiful mother, Connie.
"Last but not least, [thank you] to my mother, the hottest date in town," the Dior Homme-clad star said, as Connie, stunning with white hair and a black velvet dress, laughed and beamed in the audience. "I just wanna say, thank you for giving me such a shining and wonderful example of the possibilities of life. For showing me the power of dreams and being the best mother in the entire world. I love you."
