The country singer, 39, shared the exciting news on the Thursday, May 25, episode of her “Whine Down With Jana Kramer” podcast, revealing that the 42-year-old soccer coach — who is based in England — popped the question while they were visiting Kramer’s new homebuild with her children.
“It was a really beautiful night sitting on the front porch steps and looking out at the view,” the One Tree Hill alum, who shares daughter Jolie, 7, and son Jace, 4, with ex-husband Mike Caussin, explained on her podcast, setting the scene.
After addressing Kramer by name, the former soccer player “got down on one knee,” which thrilled Jolie, who “just started jumping up and down.”
“It was the cutest thing ever. It’s like, she knew what was happening,” the “I Got the Boy” singer gushed. “She was just like, you’re getting married!”
As for how exactly Russell proposed, Kramer joked that she “blacked out” during that part, admitting he said something along the lines of, “You’re the love of my life … will you marry me?” The two then burst into tears.
“It felt very sentimental,” she shared.
This will mark Kramer’s fourth trip down the aisle. She was previously married to Michael Gambino for several months in 2004, Johnathon Schaech from 2010 to 2011 and Caussin, 36, from 2015 to 2021.
Last month, the Michigan native exclusively told Us that Caussin had met Russell — and everyone “gets along really well.” Kramer called the camaraderie between the former athletes a “really beautiful thing.”
“I’m like, ‘OK, things can turn around and it can be beautiful,’” she said.
Kramer and Caussin’s tumultuous marriage often made headlines. The retired NFL star admitted to cheating on his now-ex multiple times, and the pair separated in 2016 as Caussin sought treatment for sex addiction. The duo rekindled their romance and renewed their vows in 2017, but they called it quits for good for years later. Their divorce was finalized in July 2021.
After briefly dating Ian Schinelli and Jay Cutler in the wake of her divorce, Kramer revealed her romance with Russell in January.
“I’m, like, such a lover. I love to love,” she exclusively gushed to Us four months later, revealing that she believed she found The One in Russell. “It’s not something that I’m like, ‘I have to get married.’ But, you know, I definitely found my person.”
As for Caussin’s reaction to her engagement, Kramer shared on Thursday’s podcast that she told him via FaceTime — and he couldn’t be happier for her.
“He was like, ‘Hey, I’m really happy for you. Allan’s a great guy,'” she recalled. “Actually, I started to cry because he goes, ‘Of all people, you deserve to have someone that loves you and respects you and you deserve this.’ He’s like, ‘After everything I put you through, you deserve this more than anyone.’ It meant so much to me that he said that.”
