Rest in peace. Jake Bailey, a celebrity makeup artist who has worked with the likes of Katy Perry, Selena Gomez, and Mariah Carey, was found dead at his Los Angeles home on Friday, Oct. 23, Us Weekly can confirm. He was 37 years old.
According to TMZ, Bailey’s assistant found him at his home on Friday morning and immediately called the cops. It appeared that the Hollywood favorite had “succumbed to carbon monoxide” in what may have been a suicide.
"It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Jake Bailey's passing," a rep for Starworks tells Us. "He was an undeniable talent, a great friend, a loving son and brother, and our grief is shared with all those whose lives he's touched."
"As one of the industry's most sought after makeup artists, Jake worked with an incredible client roster and his work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue Italia, Vanity Fair, and Allure," the statement continues. "He collaborated with some of the top photographers in the fashion and entertainment industries and was also a passionate photographer himself. Jake was a mentor to many, and his work will continue to inspire. He will be truly missed by those who knew him."
Bailey had also previously worked with other stars, including Jenna Dewan Tatum, Julianne Hough, and Nicole Richie, and frequently posted shots of them all glammed up on magazine covers, red carpets, and hamming it up with pals on Instagram.
His last post, however, simply features the makeup artist leaning against the wall of a building with a small smile on his face, dressed casually in a blue Hawaii T-shirt and dark pants.
