Relationship goals, sorta! Hilary Duff revealed the status of her relationship with her estranged husband, Mike Comrie, during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Friday, January 29.
DeGeneres, who hadn’t seen the Younger star in a bit, brought up Duff’s 2014 split from Comrie.
“You’re no longer with your husband?” asked the host.
“Right,” replied Duff, 28. “We have such a great kid. And we’re both so obsessed with him.” The parents of Luca, 3, announced their separation in January 2014, and Duff filed for divorce last February. Their split, however, has yet to be finalized due to different demands over child custody. Despite their differences of opinion, Duff says she’s on great terms with her ex.
“We are good friends and we laugh a lot,” she told DeGeneres. “And we have a great communication and we share pictures when one is not with Luca. He’s great, we are great and we keep on trucking.”
After her separation, Duff was initially hopeful for a reconciliation — but ultimately, the last straw for the former Disney star came when Comrie, 35, drunkenly hit on a waitress at a Beverly Hills hot spot last February. According to one report, Comrie got so drunk that he threw money at his waitress and asked her for sex. A day after the report surfaced, Duff filed for divorce, requesting primary custody of their son.
“Hilary finally realized Mike wasn’t going to change,” an insider subsequently told Us Weekly. “He totally blew it and chose to live life like he was single.”
