No Doubt these two loved each other. Before Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale announced their split on Monday, Aug. 3, they shared more than two decades together as a couple and, later, as parents to sons Kingston, 9, Zuma, 6, and Apollo, 17 months.
Now, as they close the book on their rock ‘n’ roll fairy tale, Us Weekly is taking a look back at some of their happier moments, from the early years of their relationship in the mid-1990s, to their time on The Voice just last year.
“If I look back on the whole thing, the one thing that’s been constant is that we both want the same thing,” the “Hollaback Girl” singer, 45, said on the Today show this past January, as she fought back tears. “We both want to be married and be good parents. So I feel really proud of what we’ve done together.”
Stefani and the Bush rocker, 49, met in 1995 when No Doubt opened for Rossdale’s band on tour. They married seven years later in London, and welcomed their first child a few years after that, in 2006.
“We got engaged on New Year’s Day,” the L.A.M.B. mogul said in 2002, shortly after the Brit popped the question. “Can you believe it? I can’t believe it. It’s weird. I feel so different now. I feel like reborn, or like I have a whole new life ahead of me.”
