Not a good look. Future hit back at his ex-fiancée, Ciara, by filing a counter lawsuit against the singer and insulting her career all in one fell swoop.
According to TMZ, the rapper recently responded to the “1, 2 Step” songstress, 30, by filing documents claiming that he hasn’t damaged her reputation, because she hasn’t had a particularly great one to speak of in recent years. In short, he called her last album a “flop.”
Future, 32, further demanded that Ciara not only stop bad-mouthing him to the press, but also cover the legal fees that he has incurred as a result of her initial lawsuit.
In February, Ciara sued Future, seeking $15 million in defamation and slander damages, citing the rapper’s past interviews and more recent Twitter rants against her and her fiancé, football player Russell Wilson, as grounds for the case.
During an interview with The Breakfast Club last July, Future suggested that Ciara was using their son, 23-month-old Future Jr., as a prop for publicity after photos of Wilson, 27, pushing a stroller with Future Jr. in it surfaced.
“At the end of the day, I’m not for the publicity stunts,” he said at the time. “Leave my son out of the publicity stunts. Just leave him out of your relationship.”
The pair have had a very public, rocky fallout since they split in August 2014. (The once-engaged couple pulled the plug on their relationship after Ciara caught wind of Future’s alleged ongoing affair with his wardrobe consultant, Tyrina Lee.)
But in spite of their messy breakup, the singer has chosen to focus on the positive.
“I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me,” she told the May issue of Essence of Wilson. “I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.”
