Here’s to the next chapter. Erin Andrews made her first public appearance following her $55 million court victory, on the Wednesday, March 16, episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. The sportscaster dropped by the late-night show to thank fans and discuss her civil lawsuit.
“This is kind of my ‘come out of hiding,'” Andrews, 37, said. “Why would I not want to be here?”
As previously reported, the Dancing With the Stars cohost won a case against her stalker, Michael David Barrett, and a Nashville Marriott over a 2008 incident in which she was filmed naked in her hotel room. (West End Hotel Partners, which owns the hotel, will have to pay more than $26 million.)
Barrett previously confessed that he asked hotel employees if he could stay in the adjacent room next to the star. He filmed her through a peephole and sold the NSFW footage. The incident has haunted Andrews ever since.
Jimmy Kimmel applauded Andrews for her win on Wednesday — and asked if she could give him $1 million. “I don’t have any money,” Andrews teased. “I have not signed a new contract with Dancing, but my Fox contract is up.”
Jokes aside, Andrews noted how grateful she is for the outpouring of support she’s received. “I want to thank everybody,” she said. “There were so many people who actually reached out — all over the world.”
