Denise Richards shared a heartfelt message about her Boston terrier Nana via Instagram on Tuesday, June 21, following her precious pup’s death.
“Our beloved Nana passed away over the weekend,” she captioned a black-and-white snapshot of herself snuggling with the dog. “Thank u @bostonbuddies for bringing this beautiful girl into our life. We love her so much & miss her terribly. #NanaBanana #sherescuedus.”
Fans immediately reacted to the sad news, offering the actress their condolences. “Sorry for your loss,” one commenter wrote. “Rest in peace nana.”
“I’m sorry to hear of Nana’s passing,” another wrote. “Knowing how you love animals I’m sure she was very much loved. She will always be in your heart and an angel in heaven running with her 4 legged friends. She wouldn’t want you to be sad, she had the best life with you a dog could wish for. Be at peace knowing she had so much love.”
Richards, 45, is a known animal lover and advocate, and has lost a few of her furry friends over the years. Almost exactly a year ago, she said goodbye to her dog Scooter and posted a tribute of her beloved pet.
“Our gorgeous sweet Scooter passed away yesterday,” she captioned a collage of the pup at the time. “Rescued him 5 yrs ago & he gave so much to our family. Lost his leg to cancer almost 1 yr ago & was stronger than ever. We miss him so much already. Beautiful soul… #Scooter.”
In a 2012 interview with Yahoo’s omg!, Richards joked that she had “too many dogs to count.”
"I have a lot. I converted my garage into a dog bedroom," she revealed. "And it's good for my girls. For my daughter's birthday party, in lieu of gifts, we asked if anyone was interested in donating blankets and dog food and cat litter, and my daughter dropped it off at the shelter. So it's nice for them to know and to learn to give back. And they're very nurturing, which is great for the animals."
