Steele single! Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson teased some new details about the upcoming sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, in a new interview with Ellen DeGeneres on Friday, Sept. 18.
DeGeneres asked the Black Mass star, 25, if people “were weird” around her after the first installment of E L James‘ racy trilogy hit theaters this past February.
“Well, sometimes, people just say things that are a little bit awkward for me,” the star admitted. “Like, I was in a cab recently, and the driver was like, ‘My wife and I, we saw your film. We really liked it.’ And he goes, ‘…I thought there could be more sex.'”
Johnson confirmed again that neither of her parents — Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith — has seen Fifty Shades of Grey. “Nuh-uh, nobody in my family,” she said with a blush.
She further revealed that shooting for the second film will begin “sometime in the new year.” DeGeneres, 57, then gifted Johnson with several sex tools, including the “Ellen Blue Flogger” and the “Ellen Blue Handcuffs,” for when she returns to set.
The Hollywood scion also confirmed to DeGeneres on Friday that she’s single again. (Us Weekly confirmed this past February that the star and her boyfriend, Matthew Hitt, had split. In May, the actress briefly reunited with her rocker beau, but the romance ultimately fizzled out.)
DeGeneres asked whether it was hard for Johnson to date guys. “Are they scared of you?” the talk show host asked.
“You mean, like when they run away from me?” Johnson replied with a laugh. “I don’t know… I guess that if those are the two options, I guess they’re scared of me. They either love me or they’re running for the hills.”
